This drawing is entitled "The Embrace". According to folklore, mermaids would sometimes sing to people and gods and enchant them, distracting them from their work and causing them to walk off the deck or run their ships aground. Other stories have them squeezing the life out of drowning men while attempting to rescue them. They are also said to take humans down to their underwater kingdoms. But my drawing tells a different story...not one of mischief or duplicity, but of love.

I am a visual artist living in the greater Washington, DC area. The work represented in this gallery was completed from 2006 through 2024.
